Digital member ID cards are a logical next step in delivering on our employer groups, member and provider requests for more digital-first solutions. Further, as patient health plans change and the information on member ID cards needs to change along with it, Regence can make digital updates in real-time with greater efficiency, speed and security compared to producing physical cards.
- Digital member ID cards are accurate and up to date.
- They’re a more secure source of benefits information.
- Producing less plastic helps our environment.
As members increasingly use digital member ID cards, you may need to change your office workflow to accept this format. Your patients will have the option to:
- Share their digital member ID card image on their mobile device in the office
- Communicate the information verbally over the phone to preregister for their appointment
- Upload a digital member ID card image to your health portal
- Email a digital member ID card image directly to your office from the Regence app or regence.com
- Print a copy of their digital ID card and share it with your office
If a Regence member presents at an appointment without a member ID card or a digital-only member ID card, do not turn them away or direct them to submit their own claims.
Ask your Regence patients to access a copy of their digital member ID card in their digital wallet on their mobile device, through the Regence app or by signing into regence.com.
You can also view and download a copy of the member’s ID card on Availity Essentials, availity.com. After completing an Eligibility and Benefits transaction, a button alongside the benefit booklet will allow you to view, download or print the member’s ID card. If there is no button, the member may be an out-of-area member from another Blues plan.
If you can't use Availity Essentials, availity.com to verify patient member ID, benefits and eligibility, call our Provider Contact Center or use our interactive voice response (IVR) system.
